Bridal Shower

I did a purple & white bridal shower cake with polka dots and three colors of buttercream flowers. The bottom layer was: strawberry and vanilla with vanilla frosting and the top layer was white cake with lemon buttercream frosting. Both were yummy. I got lots of wonderful comments too!

Like...
This is the best cake I've ever had.
This cake is SO pretty.
The cutest bridal shower cake I've ever seen.
I love the cake.
WOW! Did you actually make that.

So, needless to say - even though I'm my toughest critic and could see all the flaws and imperfections ... everyone else thought it was wonderful! I did writing all the way around the bottom layer that said "Congratulations Cassie".

Cowgirl Cake

A cake for my friend Rachel's 30th birthday hoedown/moving to Texas party. Had SO much to do this weekend, so didn't get to spend a lot of time on the cake - but still turned out cute. I used my new bake even strips ... love them! The cake stayed super extra moist and was so evenly baked. I didn't want to make frosting, so I just used the chocolate I had for writing. I wanted to do pink though.

Cake Class

Terrible picture ... took it with my camera phone (which obviously is not great). This is the cake that I made in the final class of my cake decorating course. I did it all white - roses, peonies, scallop border. It doesn't look that great in the picture, but my husband said "It looks like a wedding cake".

I might take another class in a few months to learn how to do more fondant flowers.

On the Farm.

A tractor cake!
I made this for a cake decorating class that I am taking. It is learning basic's & this week was practicing stars. I chose the tractor - because my son's preschool is learning about farms. I didn't want a cake sitting around my house, so thought I'd tie the theme in with school & bring it there for the kids to enjoy. His class is the raccoons & looking at the picture, I just realized I forgot an "O". Guess I am tired!

Roses

I have finally gotten around to taking a basics cake decorating course to learn for to work with icing. In our class we will be learning lots of things - including roses ... .I was just too impatient to wait, so I gave it a go for my mother-in-laws birthday cake. My first roses turned out really good. The cake was not bad either. A new recipe ... for "inside-out pineapple lemon cake".

Spring Cookies

It spring & for dessert on Easter - instead of a real/big dessert (after we all ate too much anyways), I made sugar cookies. It was a three day process.
Thursday - Andy & I mixed the dough
Friday - my mom, niece & Andy rolled out the dough, cut the shapes & baked them
Saturday - I frosted & decorated all the cookies

They are really cute, but not cute enough to not eat. They tasted as good as they look.

A Panda Cake .. A Panda Cake

I made a Panda cake for Kasey's 1st birthday. My first official paid job, which is exciting. I originally wanted to do something a bit different - but, this is what my customer wanted. It turned out cute.
